CHICAGO — An Illinois woman is suing Navient Solutions LLC for allegedly violating telephone harassment statutes.

Caridad Misavage filed a lawsuit on March 2 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois alleging Navient placed calls to her cellphone to collect payments on a student loan.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges she sustained damages in November 2016 from receiving calls that are not for emergency purposes. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly continuing to call her after being instructed to stop.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory damages of $500, statutory damages of $1,500, court costs and any further relief the court grants. She is represented by Adam T. Hill of Krohn & Moss Ltd. in Chicago.
