Holy Family Medical Center allegedly failed to prevent pressure ulcers

CHICAGO — The family of a deceased man is suing Presence Holy Family Medical Center and Presence Ballard Rehabilitation, and affiliated entities for allegedly taking insufficient measures to prevent the patient from developing pressure ulcers.

Mildred Heinzel, independent administrator of the estate of Mark Heinzel, filed a lawsuit on March 31 in Cook County Circuit Court alleging the defendants failed to provide Mark Heinzel with proper medical care.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges Heinzel experienced pain from having developed pressure ulcers and catheter complications. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to adequately supervise and assist Heinzel to prevent the development of pressure ulcers.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000 plus court costs. She is represented by Jason Kellerman of the Law Offices of Steven J. Malman & Associates P.C. in Chicago.
