CHICAGO — An individual is suing TransUnion Corp., a credit reporting agency, citing alleged breach of duty and violation of federal law for misrepresenting his debt.
Richard Winters Jr. filed a complaint on March 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois alleging that the defendant reported incorrect information on plaintiff's consumer report.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he sustained damages to his credit score including denial of credit and other financial damages. The plaintiff holds TransUnion responsible because it allegedly failed to conduct an accurate investigation regarding plaintiff's disputes, which stemmed from an apartment lease and a medical bill.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual damages, statutory damages, court costs and any further relief this court grants. He is represented by Law Offices of Todd M. Friedman P.C. in Chicago.
