Woman sues Allstate, others for allegedly invalidly diverting life insurance payoff to ex-wife

CHICAGO — A woman is suing Allstate Life Insurance Company, Laurie A. Peterson, Trace James Peterson and the estate of Bruce Peterson, citing alleged fraud.

Dianne Peterson filed a complaint on April 20 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants alleging they improperly diverted the proceeds of Bruce Peterson's life insurance benefits to Laurie Peterson, his ex-wife. Dianne Peterson was Bruce Peterson's wife at the time of his death.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges she was damaged from having been removed as the beneficiary of the life insurance benefits left by Bruce Peterson. The plaintiff holds Allstate, Laurie A. Peterson, Trace James Peterson, and the estate of Bruce Peterson responsible because the defendants allegedly transferred the policy's assets from Bruce Peterson to Laurie Peterson invalidly.

The plaintiff seeks to declare that the estate's transfer of the property is fraudulent and invalid, as well as judgment against the defendant in an amount equal to the value of the policy's benefit and value, and any further relief this court grants. She is represented by Hesik Prybylo in Oak Park.
