Norfolk Southern Corporation accused of racial discrimination

CHICAGO — An employee is suing Norfolk Southern Corporation, alleging a hostile work environment and racial discrimination.

Michael Cage Jr. filed a complaint on May 30 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, alleging the defendant discriminated against him due to his race.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff, who is African American, alleges the defendant allowed him to be harassed by other employees, refused to accommodate his sleep apnea condition and allegedly took away his company vehicle and gave it to a white employee.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks punitive and exemplary damages, court costs and any further relief this court grants. He is represented by the Law Office of Jill M. Willis in Chicago.
