CHICAGO — A man is suing The Home Depot and its store in Homewood, and Electric Eel Manufacturing Company Inc. for allegedly taking insufficient measures to prevent injuries.
Calvin Horne filed a complaint on Aug. 21 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging the defendants failed to provide proper instructions on how to use a drain cleaning device called the Electric Eel.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges he severed a finger and sustained other serious physical injuries in July when an Electric Eel product began spinning out of control while he was attempting to use it to unclog a drain. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to warn him of the defective nature of the Electric Eel.
The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000, plus court costs.
