CHICAGO — A worker has filed a class action lawsuit against Hyatt Corporation for alleged invasion of privacy and violation of state law.
Robin Rapai filed a complaint on Oct. 30 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging the hotel company has violated worker privacy rights under an Illinois state law in the way it has collected and stored scans of worker fingerprints, which are required to clock in and out of work. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly failing to properly inform her and its other employees why their biometric information was being collected and stored, and what the company would do with it when employment ends.
The plaintiff seeks declare that the defendant has violated the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act, provide temporary, preliminary and permanent injunctive relief to the plaintiff, all damages, court costs and any further relief this court grants.
