CHICAGO — A Community High School District 218 student is suing for alleged sexual abuse, intentional infliction of emotional distress and liability.

Jane Doe, a minor through her mother and father, filed a complaint on Nov. 8 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Community High School District 218 board of education, Ty Harting, John Hallberg, Mike Jacobson, Ken Styler and Raymond Van Syckle, alleging that the defendants continued to employ Van Syckle despite his engagement in inappropriate sexual behavior with minors at the school.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she experienced emotional distress due to allegedly being recorded by Van Syckle while getting undressed in a locker room at her school. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to provide proper supervision of Van Syckle.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury; and seeks judgment against the defendants for compensatory damages, punitive damages, court costs and any further relief this court grants. She is represented by Raymond J. Sanguinetti and Ann Marie Perez of Rathje & Woodward LLC in Wheaton.
