Mercy Hospital and Medical Center, others accused over child birth complications

Medical malpractice 09

CHICAGO — A  woman is suing Mercy Hospital and Medical Center, Mercy Medical Group, Independent Physicians at Mercy, Dr. Karissa Cryer, Dr. Robbie Harriford, Dr. Judith Brown, Dr. Dillon Bannis, a nurse and Dr. Dona Perry for allegedly taking insufficient measures to prevent injuries.

Vanessa Steller, on her behalf and on behalf of her infant child, filed a complaint on Nov. 21 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging that the defendants failed to provide her with proper medical care during child birth.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges she was injured because she suffered excessive contractions, allegedly caused when the defendants allegedly administered too much Pitocin,  requiring further medical care and treatment. The plaintiff alleges the defendants also failed to properly monitor her child's fetal heart rate.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount that will adequately compensate her for her injuries and damages. She is represented by Craig P. Mannarino and Amanda L. Brasfield of Kralovec, Jambois & Schwartz in Chicago.
