CHICAGO — A tenant is suing Mercy Housing Management Group Inc. and Roseland Limited Partnership IS for intentional infliction of emotional distress and negligence.

Marquieta Slaughter filed a complaint on Nov. 29 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging the defendants failed to address a bed bug infestation at their apartment.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges she was bitten by bed bugs, which allegedly caused her to be admitted to Advocate Christ Hospital for seven days. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly concealing the bed bug infestation at their property instead of exterminating the problem.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000 for compensatory damages, court costs, interest and any further relief this court grants.
