CHICAGO — A woman is suing Baltazar Mendoza, a lawyer, for alleged breach of contract and fraud.
Maria Balmaceda filed a complaint on Feb. 22 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging she transferred more than $35,000 to the defendant's account with the belief he would use the money to represent her in a dispute with a construction company. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly taking the money and allegedly using it for his personal gain.
The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in the amount of $35,133, plus 5 percent interest, punitive damages of no less than $105,399, all damages, court costs and any further relief this court grants. She is represented by attorney Daniel H. Brown in Chicago.
