CHICAGO — A woman is suing Amtrak for allegedly taking insufficient measures to prevent injuries.

Jeri Khaghani filed a complaint on March 22 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging she sustained serious injuries to her left foot and back on April 11, 2015, when her foot went between a train and platform while she allegedly was stepping through an open service side door. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly failing to properly maintain the service platform to prevent her from falling.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant for damages, interest, court costs and any further relief this court grants. She is represented by Blake G. Arata and Jason C. MacFetters, of Rome, Arata, Baxley & Stelly LLC, in New Orleans, and Thomas A. Smith, of Senak Keegan Gleason Smith & Michaud Ltd. in Chicago.
