CHICAGO — A woman has filed a class action lawsuit against Ingalls Memorial Hospital; UCM Community Health & Hospital Division Inc.; and Becton, Dickinson and Company, citing alleged unlawful collection of biometric data.
Lucille Mosby filed a complaint on April 18 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging that the defendants violated the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA).
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that the defendants required her to scan her fingerprints into a biometric device to access restricted materials at their facilities. The plaintiff claims that she would be exposed to serious and irreversible privacy risks if the database containing her fingerprints or other sensitive biometric data were hacked, breached or otherwise exposed.
