University of Chicago Medical Center, city of Chicago allegedly failed to maintain sidewalk in safe condition

CHICAGO — A woman is suing the University of Chicago Medical Center and the city of Chicago for allegedly taking insufficient measures to prevent injuries.

Jestina Turner filed a complaint on May 11 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging the defendants failed to maintain and repair a sidewalk on their premises, causing her to trip and fall to the ground because of the sidewalk's uneven surface. As a result, the plaintiff claims she sustained bodily injuries, financial damages and medical expenses.

The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly allowing the surface of the sidewalk area to become uneven, unsafe and dangerous.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in an amount greater than $30,000, plus costs. She is represented by Corey E. Meyer of Law Offices of Corey E. Meyer Ltd. in Chicago.
