CHICAGO — A woman is suing BNSF Railway Company for alleged negligence.

Gabriele Kirschman, special administrator of the estate of Gary W. Kirschman, filed a complaint on May 11 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging that the defendant violated the Federal Employers Liability Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges Gary Kirschman was exposed to various toxic substances and carcinogens while working for the defendant. She claims his alleged exposure to these substances caused him to develop acute myeloid leukemia.

The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly failing to provide Kirschman with a reasonably safe place to work.
