St. Anthony Hospital, others allegedly amputated foot, after telling patient only toe needed removal

CHICAGO — A married couple is suing St. Anthony Hospital, Dr. Nastane Lebec MD and several other health care providers for alleged loss of consortium and negligence.

Miguel and Olga Pineda filed a complaint on May 11 in the Cook County Circuit Court, alleging Miguel Pineda had to have his right foot amputated after allegedly being told at first that he would only need to have one toe removed. As a result, the plaintiffs claim Pineda has suffered pain and incurred financial damages. The plaintiffs hold the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to properly assess Miguel Pineda's medical condition. Additionally, Olga Pineda claims  she has a lost the companionship and consortium of her husband. 

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against the defendants for damages greater than $30,000. They are represented by Ruth M. Degnan of McNabola Law Group PC in Chicago.
