Job seeker accuses A&R Logistics of improperly using consumer report to deny employment

CHICAGO — A job applicant has filed a class-action lawsuit against A&R Logistics Inc., saying the employer violated the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Lead plaintiff Jerome Ratliff Jr. filed a complaint Aug. 7 in Cook County Ciircuit Court, saying Ratliff and other class members applied for driving positions with A&R on Dec. 6, 2014. 

However, Ratliff claimed the defendant used consumer reports from HireRight to screen applicants without their knowledge and they did not have the abiity to verify, deny the information or correct allegdly inaccurate or incomplete information. 

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks injunctive relief, actual and statutory damages, litigation expenses, attorneys' fees and further relief as required. He is represented by Adam York and Michael Aschenbrener of KamberLaw LLC in Chicago.
