CHICAGO — An independent administrator is suing Symphony of Morgan Park and Maestro Consulting Services LLC, a long-term care facility, citing alleged negligence and wrongful death.
Deborah Stokes filed a complaint on Aug. 15 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants alleging they failed to exercise standard care and skill required of medical providers.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges Kelly Stokes Sr., while still a resident of defendants' long-term care facility at 10935 S. Halsted St. in Chicago, suffered injuries, including deterioration of surgical wounds, worsening of his AV graft infection, pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, medical expenses and deterioration that eventually led to his death on Sept. 1, 2016, resulting from the negligent care, treatment and supervision of the defendants while decedent was still under their care and treatment. Additionally, decedent's next-of-kin lost his companionship and society, suffered grief, sorrow, and mental suffering.
The plaintiff holds Symphony of Morgan Park and Maestro Consulting Services LLC responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to properly administer antibiotics to decedent, failed to identify necessary treatment and services, failed to notify family of changes in decedent's condition and failed to follow physician's orders.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment of more than $50,000. She is represented by Margaret P. Battersby and Pamela Dimo of Levin & Perconti in Chicago.
