CHICAGO — A patient is suing a Chicago rehabilitation center where she fractured an arm while rehabilitating her knee, alleging medical malpractice.
Fiona Inglis filed a complaint on Oct. 18 in Cook County Circuit Court against Novacare Outpatient Rehabilitation and related parties, saying the defendants had breached their duty to provide reasonable and safe care.
Inglis was undergoing physical therapy at a Novacare center on West North Avenue on Oct. 21, 2016, when she was prescribed balance exercises using a "balance board," according to the complaint. But Inglis, who was dealing with instability in her left knee, fell and severely injured her left arm as she was performing the exercise without any physicians present.
The plaintiff requested a trial by jury, seeking compensation for the injuries. She is represented by Robert Groszek of the Groszek Law Firm in Chicago.
