CHICAGO – The sister of a former resident of a long-term nursing facility in Lincolnshire has filed a wrongful death suit against the facility.

Cheryl Gabel, as independent administrator of Deborah Gabel, filed a complaint on Oct. 26 in Cook County Circuit Court against Warren Barr Lincolnshire, alleging wrongful death.

According to the complaint, Deborah Gabel was admitted to the defendant's facility in November 2016 and later developed pneumonia and sepsis. The suit states she also suffered a fall that resulted in a closed head injury. The plaintiff alleges these conditions contributed to Gabel's death in January 2017.

The plaintiff alleges the defendant failed to provide Gabel with the proper supervision to prevent falls and failed to provide proper supervision while eating to prevent aspiration.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation of more than $50,000, plus attorney fees and costs as allowed by statute. She is represented by David M. Resis of The Law Offices of Steven J. Malman & Associates P.C. in Chicago.
