CHICAGO – A worker at a Chicago building alleges he sustained a shoulder injury when a door closed on him.

James Chiappetta filed a complaint on Dec. 4 in Cook County Circuit Court against Zeller Realty Group, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on Dec. 7, 2016, Chiapetta was at a Zeller property on Michigan Avenue in Chicago and was exiting the building to the parking area when a door suddenly slammed on his shoulder, causing him injuries. He alleges the door did not have a high wind warning on it.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to provide a safe exit to the general public in the parking area, failed to provide a safe means of ingress and egress to the premises from the parking area and failed to properly warn members of the public of any dangerous condition in its premises.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment for damages of more than $50,000. He is represented by A. Fredrick Chapekis of Chapekis, Chapekis & Schmidt in Chicago.
