CHICAGO — The executor of a deceased woman's estate alleges the care she received at Mother Theresa Home contributed to her death.

Rebecca Nance, as independent executor of the estate of Judith Koester, filed a complaint on March 20 in Cook County Circuit Court against Mother Theresa Home, Franciscan Village and Franciscan Communities Inc.

According to the complaint, Koester was admitted to the defendant's facility in Lemont in February 2017. Koester reportedly was at high risk for the development of ulcers and skin breakdown, but the defendants allegedly failed to properly administer care, which contributed to her death in November 2017.

The defendant is accused of violation of the Illinois Nursing Home Care Act, negligence and wrongful death.

The plaintiff is seeking more than $50,000, plus attorney fees and court costs, and trial by jury. The plaintiff is represented by Christopher Cortese of Hurley McKenna & Mertz P.C. in Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court Case No. 2019-L-002977.
