Sipi Metals sued after worker allegedly injured by exploding metal melting furnace

CHICAGO — A man was allegedly injured when a workplace furnace exploded.

Sheron Williams as guardian for Jeffrey Moore, a person with a disability, filed a complaint on March 28 in Cook County Circuit Court against Sipi Metals Corp and related entities, and Belmont Technology International LLC and related entities.

According to the complaint, on Jan. 30, 2019, when working near a metal melting furnace at the Sipi facility at 1720 N. Elston Ave., Chicago, an explosion and fire injured Moore. The lawsuit asserts the defendants did not prevent the explosion and provide a safe place of work.

The plaintiff is seeking damages, plus attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Yao O Dinizulu of Dinizulu Law Group Ltd in Chicago.
