Five Tressler Attorneys Recognized as 2023 Illinois Rising Stars

We are pleased to announce that Tressler attorneys Rachel V. Bassett, Kathleen Hart, Matthew J. O'Malley, Anita St. Pierre and Stacey L. Wilkins have been selected as 2023 Illinois Rising Stars. Less than 2.5 percent of attorneys in Illinois receive this prestigious honor each year.

Rachel V. Bassett

Associate

Rachel is an associate in Tressler’s Insurance Practice Group. Rachel focuses her practice in tort defense and insurance coverage, including personal injury defense, premises liability, transportation litigation, subrogation claims and coverage analysis. She has obtained extensive litigation experience defending individuals and corporate clients in construction, contract and personal injury disputes. Throughout her career, Rachel has assisted in and has been first chair for civil trials. Rachel’s practice also includes appellate work, including brief writing and oral argument.

Kathleen M. Hart

Associate

Kathleen is an associate in the Insurance Practice Group. She focuses her practice in the areas of insurance coverage analysis and litigation. Kathleen has drafted coverage opinions, position letters, response letters and other insurance-related documents on behalf of insurers. She also has experience in various phases of insurance coverage litigation, including drafting declaratory judgment complaints and dispositive motions as well as appearing for oral arguments, and mediations. Kathleen has handled a wide range of issues involving several types of policies, including general liability, commercial auto, professional liability, advertisers liability, media, directors and officers liability, first party property, homeowners, umbrella, and workers compensation policies, among others. Kathleen has also assisted insurers in fraud investigation claims involving theft and arson and has experience handling UM/UIM claims.

Matthew J. O'Malley

Associate

Matt is a member of both the Litigation Practice Group and HOA Law Practice. He advises his clients on litigation strategies, skillfully representing them through all phases of litigation. Matt has a track record of success in both bench and jury trials. He focuses on the client’s resolution goals, whether that is achieved through trial, settlement conference, mediation or arbitration. Matt serves his clients in a variety of complex litigated and non-litigated matters, including actions for breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, indemnity and contribution, professional malpractice, personal injury, general corporate, LGBT issues, employment discrimination and civil rights violations. 

Anita St. Pierre

Anita St. Pierre focuses her practice on litigation, including general defense litigation, insurance coverage, and homeowners association matters. Anita has experience in all phases of litigation. She regularly appears in court on both routine and contested matters, participates in oral argument and conducts all facets of discovery and trial preparation. Anita also has experience in alternative dispute resolution, having represented clients in settlement conferences and at mediations and arbitrations. In addition, Anita advises condominium association and common interest community association clients on their rights and responsibilities under applicable statutes, interpretation of governing documents, rule enforcement, and contract review. Anita also has experience with insurance coverage disputes involving commercial general liability insurance policies. She advises insurers regarding a broad range of insurance coverage and litigation matters.

Stacey L. Wilkins

Stacey Wilkins Tressler LLP

Stacey is an experienced courtroom attorney. Her litigation practice is focused primarily in the areas of general defense litigation, insurance coverage and municipal law. She has successfully defended individuals, corporations, public entities (including park districts and schools), public employees and not-for-profit organizations, including child care centers and foster care/adoption agencies. Stacey has advised and represented individuals, personal and commercial lines insurance companies, self-insured risk pools, corporations and municipalities in a variety of litigated defense matters. Her practice includes both state and federal trial work as well as appellate work.
