CHICAGO – A driver has filed a negligence lawsuit, claiming that he was seriously injured when another driver ran a red light and collided with his vehicle.

Plaintiff Jamil Mohammad filed the lawsuit in Cook County Circuit Court against an unknown driver alleging negligence, willful and wanton conduct, and negligent entrustment in relation to a traffic collision.

According to court documents, on September 17, 2023, Mohammad was driving westbound on Madison St. in Chicago when an unknown driver heading northbound on North Dearborn St. ran a red light and collided with Mohammad's vehicle. The lawsuit lists Charles Cross and Mayra Delgado as passengers in the unknown driver's vehicle, but points out that Cross is believed to be the unknown driver of the vehicle.

The lawsuit accuses the unknown driver of failing to exercise ordinary care in the operation of the vehicle and lists several acts of negligence, including failing to keep a proper lookout, control the vehicle, come to a complete stop at a traffic stop, and operate the vehicle at a reasonable speed. The lawsuit accuses Delgado of negligent entrustment for lending her vehicle to an incompetent and unfit driver (the unknown driver)

Mohammad claims to have sustained injuries to his neck, left shoulder, and lower back. He is seeking damages for pain, suffering, emotional trauma, loss of normal life, and medical expenses, plus court costs and any other relief the court deems proper.

The plaintiff is represented by attorney Robert P. Groszek of the Groszek Law Firm in Chicago.
