In the Appellate Court of Illinois, First Judicial District, a lawsuit has been filed by Victoria Knight against Hillary Mattsey Kurzawa and the State Officers Electoral Board. The case, bearing ID No. 1-24-0231, was lodged on March 8, 2024.

The plaintiff, Victoria Knight, objected to the nomination papers of defendant Hillary Mattsey Kurzawa on December 11, 2023. The crux of the dispute revolves around the validity of Ms. Kurzawa's address and name as listed on her nomination papers for the State Senator election in the Nineteenth Legislative District.

On January 29, 2024, the circuit court ruled in favor of Ms. Knight, striking Ms. Kurzawa's name from the ballot. However, Ms. Kurzawa appealed this decision arguing that it was erroneous to remove her name from the ballot.

Ms. Knight is seeking affirmation of the trial court's judgment which struck Ms. Kurzawa's name from the ballot due to alleged discrepancies in her nomination papers.
