In the case of Kirk Hild, as Special Administrator of the Estate of Dean Hild, deceased, versus Lakeshore Infectious Disease Associates, LTD., and James Sullivan, M.D., filed in the Appellate Court of Illinois (First Judicial District), under court case ID 2022 L 006190 on March 22, 2024. The lawsuit revolves around an allegation of medical malpractice.

The plaintiff's lawyer alleges that the defendants were negligent in treating Dean Hild's Cushing syndrome which resulted from a medication interaction. The lawsuit was initiated by Dean Hild on July 12, 2022, but following his death on November 16, 2022, his brother Kirk Hild took over as the plaintiff.

The defendants are represented by Presiding Justice Mitchell who delivered the judgment with Justices Mikva and Lyle concurring. The trial court dismissed the case as time-barred due to the statute of repose for malpractice lawsuits against medical professionals. However, the plaintiff argues that there is an open factual question regarding when the statute of repose began to run due to continuous treatment from Dr. Sullivan until December 2018.
