In the United States District Court, Northern District of Illinois, Kewanna Jackson has filed a lawsuit against Parkshore Estates Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, LLC. The case, identified as 1:24-cv-03241, was filed on April 23, 2024. The plaintiff alleges that the defendant violated the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) by discriminating against her based on her disability and failing to accommodate her needs.

Jackson claims that she suffered discrimination due to her physical impairment in her knee, asthma, chronic bronchitis, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). She worked for the defendant as a Restorative Aid from July 3, 2019 until October 24, 2023 when she was unlawfully terminated.

The plaintiff asserts that she slipped on liquid puddles from leaking pipes at work on September 14, 2022 which resulted in a serious knee injury. Following this incident, she noticed differential treatment from Human Resources and alleges being treated less favorably than non-disabled employees.

Jackson is seeking redress for the alleged discrimination and failure to accommodate her disability under ADA. Additionally, she accuses the defendant of retaliation for engaging in protected activity under the ADA.
