Antonio Whiting, Jeffery Hendrix, and Sherrie Hendrix have filed a lawsuit against Officer Anthony Santos, Officer Jeffery Marra, and the Village of Round Lake Park in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. The case, numbered 1:24-cv-03523, was filed on May 1, 2024.

The plaintiffs are represented by Gregory E. Kulis & Associates Ltd., and they allege that their civil rights were violated under the United States Constitution and Illinois state law. The complaint details an incident on February 10, 2024, where Antonio Whiting was pulled over by Officer Anthony Santos of the Round Lake Park police department, for an alleged taillight violation while driving with Jeffery Hendrix and Sherrie Hendrix. The officers became confrontational without probable cause, handcuffed and detained all three plaintiffs for approximately one and a half hours.

The plaintiffs seek judgment in their favor for violations of their 4th amendment constitutional rights resulting from false arrest and unlawful search. They claim to have suffered emotional distress, monetary loss, embarrassment, pain and suffering, damage to reputation due to the actions of the defendants. They demand fair and reasonable compensatory damages, punitive damages plus attorneys’ fees and costs.
