Latoya Brown has filed a compelling lawsuit against her former employer, alleging severe misconduct and workplace discrimination. The complaint was filed on January 21, 2025, in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois against Scrub, LLC. Brown accuses the company of subjecting her to sexual harassment, sex-based discrimination, and retaliation under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

According to the court documents, Latoya Brown began working for Scrub, LLC as a lab driver on March 22, 2024. Throughout her employment, she claims to have met or exceeded performance expectations but faced discriminatory treatment because she was the only woman on her shift. The lawsuit describes a hostile work environment where Brown was allegedly subjected to inappropriate behavior by male colleagues and supervisors. For instance, on May 2, 2024, her manager Leo reportedly hugged and kissed her without consent. Despite reporting these incidents to HR and management multiple times, no remedial action was taken.

Brown further alleges that she was denied overtime opportunities given to male coworkers and was frequently harassed with inappropriate comments by supervisors like Leo. She also recounts an incident where another coworker spread false rumors about their relationship. Despite repeated complaints about this toxic environment to HR and union representatives, no effective measures were taken by Scrub, LLC.

The plaintiff argues that her termination on October 8, 2024, labeled as insubordination by the company, was actually retaliatory due to her complaints about harassment and discrimination. Brown is seeking various forms of relief from the court including back pay with interest, compensatory damages for emotional distress, punitive damages for willful misconduct by Scrub LLC., and injunctive relief to prevent future occurrences.

Represented by attorney Peyton M. Paschke from Sulaiman Law Group Ltd., Latoya Brown's case is being overseen in the Northern District of Illinois under Case ID: 1:25-cv-00695.
