Haron Cole, a visually-impaired individual, has filed a class action lawsuit against Rainbow Light Nutritional Systems, LLC, alleging that the company's website is inaccessible to blind and visually-impaired users. The complaint was filed on January 27, 2025, in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Cole accuses Rainbow Light of violating the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) by failing to make its website accessible to individuals who rely on screen-reading software.

The lawsuit claims that Rainbow Light's website, Rainbowlight.com, contains significant access barriers that prevent blind and visually-impaired customers from independently navigating and completing transactions. According to the complaint, these barriers include inaccessible drop-down menus, lack of alternative text for images, and interactive elements that cannot be accessed via keyboard navigation. As a result, Haron Cole and others similarly situated are denied equal access to the goods and services offered by Rainbow Light.

Cole's legal team argues that Rainbow Light's failure to implement readily available accessible technology violates both state and federal laws designed to eliminate discrimination against individuals with disabilities. The plaintiff seeks a permanent injunction requiring Rainbow Light to modify its website policies and practices to ensure accessibility for blind users. Additionally, the lawsuit demands compensatory damages for unlawful discrimination experienced by Cole and other class members.

Represented by attorney David Reyes from Asher Cohen Law PLLC, Haron Cole aims to hold Rainbow Light accountable for its alleged discriminatory practices. The case is presided over by an unnamed judge under Case No.: 1:25-cv-873. Through this legal action, Cole hopes not only to secure justice for himself but also pave the way for improved digital accessibility standards across similar platforms.
