An Illinois appeals court has upheld Cook County jury's verdict awarding $897,740 in damages to a woman struck by an Express Cab Dispatch driver with a checkered driving record.

A state appeals court has affirmed a trial court’s dismissal of a third amended complaint filed by the former operators of one of Chicago's biggest and most prestigious health clubs, and ordered them to pay more than $33,000 in sanctions in the case they brought against the businessman who now owns the club and who they accused of allegedly using inside knowledge to work around an agreement and buy the club when it fell into foreclosure.

FINRA can't be sued by fired brokers who claimed they didn't get fair shake at arbitration

A Chicago federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit against the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority Inc. (FINRA), saying the regulatory agency can't be sued by fired brokers who claimed they didn't get a fair shake in arbitration against their former employers.

Judge: Cigna didn't defraud in denying payment to surgical center suspected of 'fee forgiveness'

A federal judge has granted a win to multinational insurer Cigna, cutting out state law fraud claims from a lawsuit brought by a surgical center asserting the insurer was wrong to deny claims for reimbursement from certain Cigna-insured patients, for whom the surgical center had forgiven much of the bill because the surgical center was outside of those patients' preferred providers network.
