New Life Covenant hit with suit over woman's fall during service at Chicago high school

A woman is suing over claims she was injured during a religious service in Chicago.

Rosa Hernandez filed a lawsuit July 10 in the Cook County Circuit Court against New Life Covenant, doing business as New Life Covenant Church, New Life Covenant Ministries and My New Life Covenant Church, alleging premises liability.

According to the suit, Hernandez was attending a New Life Covenant religious service in the auditorium at Clemente High School on North Western Avenue in Chicago on July 15, 2012, when she tripped on steps.

She claims she fell because the staircase in the auditorium was unlit and accuses the defendant of failing to provide a safe premises for its invitees or adequately lighting the area.

Hernandez is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by attorneys Shea Law Group in Chicago.
