A man walking in the city's Lakeview area is suing a woman who he claims collided with him while driving a scooter.
Humberto Ospina filed a complaint Nov. 3, in Cook County Circuit Court against Lisa Michelle Davis.
According to the complaint, Ospina was walking southbound on the sidewalk at 3223 N. Broadway on Aug. 5, when Davis, who was driving a scooter southbound on the same sidewalk, struck him with her scooter.
The defendant is accused of failing to keep a safe lookout while operating a motor vehicle, failing to yield right of way to pedestrians, failing to reduce speed to avoid collision with a pedestrian and failing to give audible warning upon approach.
Ospina is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus court costs, and is represented by Daniel S. Kirschner of Corboy & Demetrio in Chicago.
