Woman sues Good Shepherd Hospital for alleged bathroom negligence

A former patient is suing over claims she was injured while in the care of Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital.

Elizabeth Metzger filed a lawsuit Aug. 25 in Cook County Circuit Court against Advocate Health and Hospitals Corp.,doing business as  Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital, citing negligence.

According to the claim, Metzger became injured while as a patient at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital, located 450 W. Highway 22 in Barrington, on Feb. 28, 2014, when she fell due to a defective toilet seat in the recovery room, causing her to incur serious and permanent injury.

Metzger is seeking damages of more than $50,000 for Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital’s negligence to not tend to the dangerous condition in the recovery room bathroom where Metzger suffered injuries and damages, causing her to expend money for medical care and treatment, the claim states.

She is being represented by Matthew B. Karchmar of Karchmar and Lambert, P.C. in Chicago.
