Administrator alleges woman died from pain medication overdose

CHICAGO – An estate administrator alleges his decedent died as a result of a toxic overdose of pain medication provided at a hospital.

Joseph Z. Spandiary, as independent administrator of the estate of Samira Abraham, filed a complaint on July 18 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Gottlieb Memorial Hospital, Dr. Christina Long and Dr. Dheeraj Mahajan alleging wrongful death.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 13, 2015, Abraham was treated at Gottlieb Memorial Hospital and was given a dosage of Fentanyl. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because the defendants allegedly provided a toxic dose of Fentanyl to Abraham, caused respiratory arrest, which alleged lead to her death on Sept. 14, 2015.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount of more than $50,000 plus court costs. He is represented by Edward M. Rubin of Rubin Machado & Rosenblum LTD in Chicago.
