Woman claims error during hysterectomy

Medical malpractice 09

CHICAGO — A patient is suing Bryon Rosner, M.D., alleging negligence in medical care.

April Bernard filed a complaint on July 27 in Cook County Circuit Court against Rosner, alleging that the doctor failed to properly perform a total abdominal hysterectomy on her.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in May 2015, her right ureter was severed, causing further pain and requiring more medical procedures. The plaintiff holds Rosner responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to make sure the plaintiff's right ureter was treated after performing the hysterectomy.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount sufficient to compensate her for her damages plus court costs and any further relief the court grants. She is represented by Beverly P. Spearman of James D. Montgomery & Associates, Ltd. in Chicago.
