Administrator sues nursing facility

CHICAGO — An administrator has filed a class-action lawsuit against Manor Care of Palos Heights (West) IL, LLC, Manorcare Health Services, LLC, d/b/a HCR Manorcare, LLC, and Heartland Employment Services, LLC, nursing facility, citing alleged insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries and negligence.

Raymell Edwards, as independent administrator of the estate of Odell Whitehorn filed a complaint on July 29, in the Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants alleging that they failed to provide proper care to Odell Whitehorn.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Odell Whitehorn experienced pain from having developed pressure sores which deteriorated his overall health. The plaintiff holds Manor Care of Palos Heights (West) IL, LLC, Manorcare Health Services, LLC, d/b/a HCR Manorcare, LLC, and Heartland Employment Services, LLC responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to provide adequate supervision to Odell Whitehorn in order to avoid the development of pressure ulcers or provide immediate treatment in order for it not to progress.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount in excess of $50,000. He is represented by Jordan S. Powell and Andrew Thut of Levin & Perconti in Chicago.
