CHICAGO — A woman is suing CP Opco LLC, d/b/a Classic Party Rentals; Chicago Running and Special Events Management Inc., a/k/a Chicago Special Events Management a/k/a Special Events Management a/k/a Chicago Events; and the City of Wood Dale, event organizers, alleging insufficient measures taken to prevent injuries, liability and negligence.
Nona Brzostek filed a complaint on Aug. 2 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they failed to follow an evacuation procedure.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 2, 2015, she sustained severe physical injuries when a large tent pole and other debris struck her during a storm. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly advised the plaintiff and other invitees to take shelter under the tents instead of moving them inside Wood Dale Junior High School.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount in excess of $50,000 plus court costs. She is represented by Martin A. Dolan of Dolan Law Offices, P.C. in Chicago.
