Health providers accused of failing to head off cardiac event

Medical malpractice 08

CHICAGO — A family is suing a doctor, identified as Carl Eybel, and Rush University Medical Center, in a wrongful death claim alleging they didn't do enough to prevent the death of their relative.

Robyn Vizzone, as independent administrator of the estate of Patrick Vizzone, filed a complaint on Aug. 19 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they failed to provide proper medical care to Patrick Vizzone.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 25, 2015, Patrick Vizzone was evaluated for cardiac status at Rush University Medical Center and Eybel failed to order necessary cardiac testing and failed to take necessary steps to prevent a fatal cardiac event. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for Patrick Vizzone's death on Feb. 11, 2016.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount in excess of the jurisdictional limits of this court. She is represented by Daniel M. Kotin and Robert F. Geimer of Tomasik Kotin Kasserman, LLC in Chicago.
