In a harrowing case that highlights alleged neglect in elder care, a lawsuit has been filed against a nursing and rehabilitation center, accusing it of failing to provide adequate care for an elderly resident who subsequently died. Anita Bach, the plaintiff, lodged the complaint on April 24, 2025, in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois, targeting West Suburban Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and associated parties.

The complaint is centered around the tragic circumstances leading to the death of Donald Bach, who was a resident at West Suburban Nursing & Rehabilitation Center from March 16 to April 14, 2023. Anita Bach alleges that during his stay, Donald developed severe pressure sores due to inadequate care. The lawsuit accuses the facility and its management of multiple violations under the Illinois Nursing Home Care Act and seeks accountability for their negligence. "Donald was admitted without any skin abnormalities," states the complaint, but by April 14th he had developed unstageable sacral bed sores which deteriorated further after his transfer to another medical facility.

The legal action points out several failures by West Suburban Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. It claims that despite knowing Donald was at high risk for pressure sores and malnutrition, the facility did not provide necessary supervision or assistance with daily activities such as turning and repositioning him in bed. Furthermore, it accuses them of failing to maintain adequate staffing levels as required by Medicare standards. As a result of these alleged shortcomings, Donald suffered severe physical deterioration leading up to his death on April 25, 2023.

Anita Bach's lawsuit is seeking damages exceeding $50,000 along with attorney fees and costs. She argues that her husband's rights were violated under state law due to neglectful practices at the nursing home. The suit also demands compensation for wrongful death and loss of consortium – highlighting how this tragedy has impacted her life personally and financially.

Represented by Raymond & Raymond Ltd., Anita Bach is determined to hold those responsible accountable for what she describes as preventable suffering endured by her late husband. The case is being presided over by Judge Mariyana T. Spyropoulos under Case No.: 2025L005508.
